Apparently, Malcolm MacLaren "liberated" this mid 1970's Les Paul from Syl Sylvain of the New York Dolls for his new creation, The Sex Pistols.
The Les Paul's original creamy white finish has faded to a smoke-and-sweat-stained yellow. The speed knobs and machine heads have been replaced - the originals were destroyed in various flights of six-string recklessness.
The kitschy Forties pinup stickers with which Sylvain decorated the guitar have become worn with age; two telltale screw holes are all that remain of the pickguard.
