Pete Townshend - Gibson SG Special

Pete Townshend used Gibson SG Specials exclusively on stage from 1968 until 1971, notably on Who live recordings including Woodstock, Live at Leeds and the Isle of Wight.

He went through dozens of these guitars during this period, typically the 1966 to 1970 models featuring the full pick guard.

His first SG Special was likely purchased at Manny's Music in New York in July 1968.
